What is Equine Osteopathy?

Equine Osteopathy was founded on the principles and philosophies of human osteopathy and adapted to the unique anatomy and physiology of the horse. It is important to look at the horse as a whole and have a strong belief in the natural healing abilities of the body. The osteopath uses manual techniques to normalize or re-harmonize the body and restore mobility. The osteopath always considers the reciprocal nature of the body’s main systems: the parietal system (the musculoskeletal system); the cranial sacral system (the autonomic nervous system); and the visceral system (the organs). By restoring mobility, the osteopath gives adaptation possibilities back to these systems, allowing the body time for self-correction and self-healing. Remember A.T. Still’s quote: “Find it, fix it, and leave it alone. Let nature do the rest.”
